The enormous speed of dust particles and the resulting friction cause a buildup of static electricity in the hose. Discharge causes sparks which can cause electrical shocks or even ignite explosive material or combustible dust. 

The Nilfisk-ALTO AntiStatic system means that the vacuum inlet fittings are connected to earth. This means that when working with a conductive suction hose, static buildup is discharged immediately. Electric shocks, sparks and dirt caused by electrostatic charges are prevented. Tested, unmistakable attachments (R≤ 1MQ) are required for vacuums from the TYPE 22 range.
